Syracuse at SXSW
After my first trip to SXSW in Austin, TX last year, I wanted the city of Syracuse to have a presence at the nation's biggest music festival and conference. This year I hope to help make that happen so I'm attempting to organize and host a showcase for Syracuse artists at the festival. This year it takes place from March 12-15, 2008 and it is your chance to play on a national stage. Let's show how great the bands from CNY are!

1. Go to www.sxsw.com to apply via the SXSW website or via Sonicbids. Registration is exclusively online this year and it will cost you $20 before October 5 or $30 starting October 6.
2. Apply no later than October 31, 2007 for the chance to play the Syracuse at SXSW showcase.
3. Once you apply, email your band name and all band member names along with the instruments each member plays, to sxsw@auxrecords.com. This must be done by October 31, 2007 as well.
4. On November 1, 2007 I will submit all of the names of the bands who apply to play the Syracuse showcase.
5. We wait and see if SXSW selects the showcase. All artists will hear of their selection no later than February 1, 2008.


I do not have any say in who is selected for this opportunity. I wish I did.
SXSW may not select any Syracuse bands for this, though I have been in touch with the music festival organizers and they are open to the Syracuse showcase.
The bands who are selected will be compensated by SXSW. You will have the choice of free badges for all band members (no roadies, crew, family, friends) for the conference or cash - though I strongly suggest accepting the badges for the conference.
Bands are responsible for their own transportation to and from Austin, TX and food/lodging while there. Perhaps the bands can all tour down together.
All genres are encouraged to apply.
All artists should be from Central, NY or recently removed from the area.
Bands should be available for all days during the conference since the SXSW committee may select you for multiple showcases.
